Mumbai street food · St Merryn, Padstow
Spices shipped direct from Reggie’s family in Mumbai. Rice grown on Nisha’s family farm. Twenty seats, one small kitchen, and a menu cooked exactly as it should be.
Our story
Reggie cooks the food he grew up with — the bold, bright, unfussy food of Mumbai’s streets, markets and late-night kitchens — and he cooks it here, at the crossroads in St Merryn.
Every spice is sent direct from his family in Mumbai. His mother curates and blends them herself, mixing each one for the dish it’s destined for. Nothing is bought off a shelf; it costs more, and the depth of flavour is worth it.
Even the rice comes from home. Reggie’s wife Nisha has long grain sent over from her family’s paddy fields on the outskirts of the city, blended with basmati and served alongside every curry.
The rest is Cornwall — the fish, the beef, the people who walk through the door. Twenty seats, casual and comfortable, in the middle of the village.
“I wanted to bring the authentic flavours and tastes of Mumbai to the streets of Cornwall.”
Reggie — Head Chef
